Francisco's Birthday Cake, 2009 Edition

Last year, for Francisco's birthday, I made the cake below.

Therefore, I can't let him down this year. This year's cake has to be just as good or better than last year's cake. A few ideas have been floating around in my head. I could make something White Sox related (boo, White Sox!), another car or vehicular type cake, or even a character from a movie that he likes, for example, Wall-E. In this post, I'll be considering the different types of baseball cakes that I could potentially make.

This pan is used to make any round sports ball.

And could be made to look like this:

Another option is a t-shirt pan.

Which could be used to make a jersey, as shown below. If I were to use this option, I would be making the front of the jersey with the White Sox symbol on it.

All of the pans above are from the Wilton website. Wilton is definitely the best option when it comes to cake pans. There is one more option when it comes to Wilton baseball pans, buying a retired pan on Ebay. I like two of the retired pans.

A pan that would make this glove shaped cake:

And a pan that would make this Home Run Hitter baseball player, which I could personalize to be a Latino player from the White Sox:

Another option, that I did not find a pan for, is a baseball cap. Francisco loves wearing White Sox caps. I'm guessing that in order to make one I would need to get a circle shaped rounded pan and figure out some way to make the front without making it flat. I think hat cakes with a flat bill look horrible. Let me know which cake you like best! I'll be posting on other types of cakes soon.

Love,

If the shoe fits...

Pay $92 for it (including shipping)?

This is a 2.5 in. heel from Nina Shoes that I was able to try on in a different color at DSW. I loved them the first time I saw them online, and I love them even more now that I've 'walked an aisle' in them.

Peace,

M
